Tone difference between Flying V and Les Paul?
the Les Paul has two tone knobs, two volume knobs, a three way switch, and Burstbucker Pickups.

1. What’s the tone difference between Burstbuckers and ceramics?
2. What do the volume knobs do (specially the second one) and what do the tone knobs do (two, vs only one).
3. Any difference between the three way switch in the les paul and V?
4. What is the overall tone for each of the guitars?
5. Is the V capable of playing less-steely lows like that of the acoustic guitar (so far, ive heard only Les Pauls being able to do that, my strat is incapable of doing the same thing).?
6. Will replacing the ceramic humbuckers of the V with the humbuckers from the Les Paul make the Flying V warmer in tone (eg, more Les Paul-like) ?
A very thorough answer is appreciated. nothing like “Les paul rules! blahblah!” only losers do that.

1. I am only aware of Gibson 490 & 491’s in Les Pauls, and 495 & 496’s in V’s.
2. You have 2 volumes and 2 tone knobs(1 for each pick-up). Depending on the pick-up selector position, you can get a variety of tones.
3. No difference.
4. Flying V’s tend to be more ‘tinny’ sounding, favoring high tones.
5. Yes, but not as ‘less steely’ as the les paul, but better than a strat.
6. No; The tone of the V has more to do with the body than the pick-ups
Obviously, I’m not a big fan of the flying V.
