Metal Distortion Effects

What effects are used on the lead guitar in bible black by heaven and hell?
I know that there is an acoustic guitar playing, but 13 seconds into the song an electric guitar comes in. On my line 6 spider jam amp there are 6 models, clean, twang, blues, crunch, metal and insane. (insane is basically metal with a lot of distortion). I need to know what model is used and also if reverb, delay or anything like that is used as well
I listened to the track, and from what I can pick out are several parallel effects going on.
Knowing what I know about your amp, you probably want to use the Metal Model. Do not scoop out the mids. Use about the same about of lows and mids, and back your highs off a bit.
Effects wise – it’s predominately delay and reverb. The delay is probably around 200mS with 1 repeat. There’s also a light chorus effect going separately from the delay, but you’re not going to be able to do that on your amp.
You didn’t say what kind of guitar you’re using, and that’s going to play a huge part in the sound as well. A Strat style guitar isn’t going to get this sound, you’ll need a guitar with humbuckers, and use the neck pickup.
Good luck.
Greetings from Austin, TX

EMMA PisdiYAUwot Metal Distortion Guitar Effects Pedal $245 The Emma Electronic PisdiYAUwot metal distortion pedal is a must have if you are into metal or at least into heavy riffing rock. By the way, the name "PisdiYAUwot." What does it mean Angus Podgorny? It sort of means a contraption—with the difference that the PisdiYAUwot pedal is a contraption that actually does work! One thing Emma Effects thinks that no one has really nailed yet, is a great pedal for metal. Most of them seem to be either too muddy or too slow for the really fast riffs. Emma's goal was to build a pedal with low-end punch that resembles beating sheet metal with a big hammer, the ability to scoop mids the Dimebag way, and to push up the mids the NuMetal way—full mids with body, that is. |

ZVex Vexter Box of Metal Distortion Guitar Effects Pedal $219 The ZVex Box of Metal is an aggressive high-gain distortion pedal with a highly effective built-in switchable gate which dramatically reduces noise and unwanted feedback. Its gain and tonal characteristics are somewhat similar to high-gain tube amplifiers that have been the staple of hard rock and metal sounds since the 80's. On the right, the guitar effects pedal has a true-bypass switch with an indicator LED to bypass the entire effect. On the left is a gate switch, that is only effective when the pedal is on (the gate cannot be used separately.) When the gate's LED (on the left side of the pedal) is on, the gate will be active whenever the pedal is turned on. The gate is very useful for cleaning up any noise between palm-muted chords and lead phrases, but may be switched off to initiate feedback or to stretch out soloed notes that are fading into noise. Switching off and on the gate is silent so the gating action of the distortion pedal can instantly be changed during any part of the performance to fluidly integrate soloing and palm-muted chords. The ZVex Vexter Box Guitar Pedal Controls Gate: Adjust for your playing style. When fully clockwise, palm-muting will create an audible thump and bumping the strings will open the gate. Turn down to make the gate tighter. Gate is unaffected by other controls. Drive: Sets the amount of distortion. The Bridge of Metal does not clean up. This control goes from hard to very hard. It may crackle when turned—this is perfectly normal. Treble: adjust for treble content. Use this in tandem with your amp's presence and treble controls to get the precise top-end texture—the presence control is very important on your amp, if you have one. Midrange: Adjust to accentuate or scoop out mids. Bass: Sets the bass/sub-bass level. Volume: Sets the output volume of the pedal. Note that the LED on the right is for the bypass switch and the LED on the left is for the gate. The Drive and control is based on the original ZVex Super Hard-On gain control, so it may crackle when turned. This is perfectly normal.Operation: Plug your guitar (or any effect's output) into the right hand input jack. Plug the output into an amp or other effect's input. Enjoy in moderation. Watch the output volume setting… with the gate turned on, you may not notice just how loud the distortion pedal is going to be until you play! Set the clean sound on your amp for any level of pristine cleanliness to heavy crunch. The Box of Metal effects pedal should do very well driving any amount of nominal distortion. The presence control on your amp will have a strong influence on the top-end texture of your ZVex pedal. |

DigiTech Hardwire Series TL-2 Metal Distortion Guitar Effects Pedal $70.96 The DigiTech HardWire Series TL-2 is a metal distortion pedal that lets you pick your poison. Metal can come at you fast with tight low-end and a crunching top—or stalk you slowly with a low, throaty roar that sizzles on the high end. The TL-2 distortion pedal's Tight/Loose switch controls the "tightness" of the low end and adjusts the midrange frequency to provide the best overall tone. Level, Gain, and Low, Mid and High tone controls with sweepable midrange allow you to dial in any tone with ease. The HardWire pedals series represents the DigiTech commitment to quality and attention to subtle details. In addition to technical enhancements like true bypass and high voltage operation, all HardWire pedals feature rugged, all-metal construction; a wide, stage-stable footprint; durable, custom-machined metal knobs for a sure grip; and precision potentiometers that guarantee knob positions will stay intact. The rugged, durable construction of Extreme Performance Pedals is just the beginning. Inside each HardWire pedal are technological features that serious players require—all updated and improved to their utmost capacity. True bypass preserves the purity of your original tone as signal passes through the pedal, and high voltage operation further protects your sound by eliminating clipping and other signal degradation caused by power drain. With the high-output pickups found on some electric guitars, it's not unusual to hear clipping when playing through an effects pedal. This occurs when the voltage range produced by a guitar's pickup is greater than the operating voltage of the effects pedal—normally limited to the voltage supplied by the effect's battery or power supply. HardWire pedals incorporate circuitry that increases the operating voltage headroom above that of the typical pedal. As such, HardWire pedals benefit a wider range of guitars and are also at home in an amplifier's effects loop. |

Red Witch Famulus Distortion Guitar Effects Pedal $299.99 The Red Witch Famulus Distortion Guitar Effects Pedal is a distortion/overdrive pedal with two totally separate, parallel circuits inside. Each circuit has it's own distinct voicing, so you are able to blend between the two effects for any conceivable combination.Volume controls the overall output of the Red Witch Famulus pedal. The output of both circuits are controlled in parallel by this control. The Tone is more like a presence control than a tone control. Like the volume dial both circuits run through it, offering parallel tone control. Gain A sets the distortion/overdrive level of the first circuit. It's a really biting, crunchy sound with masses of dynamic scope. Set the effect pedal really low and the guitar sounds almost clean, wind it fully clockwise and you're suddenly moved to uncontrollable head-banging, power-chording, 8th note-chugging, metal. Gain B sets the distortion/overdrive level of the second circuit. This one is bitey too but it has a fat mid-range punch and spank. Like it's brother, Gain B can clean up and then get down and dirty when turned clockwise. The Alchemy control on the Red Witch distortion/overdrive pedal is where things get rather interesting. It enables you to blend between to the two separate circuits. Fully counterclockwise gives you only Gain A, fully clockwise gives you only Gain B. Set it anywhere in between and you create your own unique combination. Dial up any variation of the two channels and their respective gain levels for an almost limitless palate with which to create your own unique sound. Bring the overdrive/distortion effect into the signal path by clicking the shiny chrome footswitch, which offers true bypass switching. The Red Witch Famulus distortion/overdrive pedal can be powered from either a 9v battery or an external 9v adapter (Not included)."Alchemy is a bridge between Earth and Heaven, matter and spirit, the solid and the fluid, the visible and the invisible, bringing the horizontal and the vertical together." – J.
