Long Scale Bass

All knowledgeable bass players: Should I change my bass strings?
My baby is an four-string Ibanez SD-GR with two humbuckers and my amp is an Eden nemesis 150. I’ve had it for about 2 months now but lately the strings keep sounding really weird and buzzy especially the E and G strings. The strings are D’Addario EXL165 Long Scale 45-105. Please give your input.
A new amp is not an option for me.
unless you bought it used the strings should be fine. bass strings easily last a year before the sound begins to degrade. that will happen with the bottom (highest pitch, typically E) string first, and move up in direction, down in pitch.buzzing is most likely the way your playing (try to be less “slappy”) the action ( the strings are to lose, try raising the bridge but not to much) or the neck (thats just the way your bass sounds). it could also be your amp, you may want to try a different one just to see if you get the same noise;.

Early Music (Lachrymae Antigua) $7.41 Don’t get too comfortable with this disc’s opening minutes, which sound convincingly like a well-tuned consort of viols performing two short pieces by Machaut and Tye. These two works from the 14th and 16th centuries quickly give way to a piece from 1997 by David Lamb. Then come Arvo Part, Harry Partch, John Cage, and even Moondog, a.k.a. Louis Hardin.
