Painting my Squire Strat Electric guitar… Good or Stuiped idea?
i got it on sale like 9 months ago and ive learned a lot since i got it but its just black the paint is and i wanted to like pin strip it my self i was thinking of using metal paint cuase it don come off easy good or bad idea ? how should i do it? also i kinda wanted to spray paint with a cut out on the guitar Fender…
Get redy for long nights unless you just want to repaint it and not strip it. Otherwise, if you want to strip it, once you removed all the paint, you will have the challenge of removing the sealer which is ver hard and set in the wood.
Then, you will have to get Fullerplast and then, paint it.
If you want to repaint it only, sand the existing finishing with # 400 sandpaper and once it is smooth, tie the guitar to the ceiling and let it hand so that you can paint it all around .
Apply thin coats only. let dry a little, then apply a second and third coat up to sid. Sand lightly with #600 sandpaper between coating.
To finish off the painting and get a high gloss, apply 2 or 3 coats of lacquer. This will protect the finish and give it a high gloss and it will smooth out the finish.
