Guitar pickup has lost volume, passive/active pickup?

I’ve bought a second hand guitar via ebay, which had the original stock in the neck but the bridge was unknown to the seller because it’d been replaced. It looks like an active, but in the back panel where all the wires are kept to connect to the pickups, there is no battery, and there’s also no other panels for which a battery to be kept. After playing last night on the bridge pickup, it suddenly lost volume and sounded as if it was just completely dead. The original passive stock pickup still worked perfectly, but after playing around with the volume on the bridge pickup it suddenly started working, but didn’t sound as loud or as it used too. Should I be concerned about it as the sound still doesn’t sound exactly as it used too?

For future reference remember to stay away from guitars that have been tinkered with. Nine times out of ten the work is done poorly by someone that is not really qualified.I doubt that it’s an active pickup because they are usually complete active systems. It could be a wiring or soldering issue due to poor workmanship but I would clean all of the volume and tone control pots first to see if that does the trick.It could also be a resistor or capacitor of the wrong value. If your not good with this kind of stuff take it to a qualified repairman
